Improving Depths, Enhancing Access.
The recent dredging project at Batemans Bay, NSW, was carried out to improve navigational safety and maintain reliable access through the harbour entrance. The works focused on removing accumulated sand and sediment that had built up over time, restricting vessel movements—particularly during low tides and adverse weather conditions.
Using the TSHD Port Frederick, dredging operations targeted the entrance channel. Material was transported to an approved offshore disposal site in accordance with environmental approvals and regulatory requirements. The dredged material was used for near‑shore nourishment, strategically deposited to help stabilise foreshore areas, support natural coastal processes, and improve beach resilience against erosion. The project successfully restored channel depths, improved maritime access for both commercial and recreational vessels, and enhanced the overall safety and efficiency of harbour operations.
